The Best Scriptures for Overcoming Anger
As promised in my last post, Human Anger vs. Holy Anger, here are some great scriptures for helping you to overcome anger. Human anger, that is. We all get frustrated or irritated by day-to-day things now and then, but sometimes being in that aggravated state of mind becomes a habit that needs breaking. Turning to God’s word is one of the best things you can do if you’re working on overcoming anger.
If you still are’t sure about the difference between human anger and holy anger, you can read that post by clicking here.
When you find yourself getting angry more often than usual, or just want anger to play a smaller role in your life, the Bible is a great place to turn. Knowing God’s perspective on anger, and his expectation for us regarding anger makes it easier to understand how it should fit into our lives.

As you read these scriptures, be reflective and ask God to reveal any anger in your life that needs to be resolved. Think about the weight these scriptures carry, or the impact that they have on you. Living life with a mindset of irritation/aggravation/frustration is a great way to rob yourself of the joy that life brings. Don’t get caught up on the things that cause human anger. Don’t live your days out in habitual irritation. God has so much more for you!
